Over the background colour

Text and icons turn white; tints go translucent.

In place of the background colour

Under the gradient. It moves only while the episode plays. Text follows the rule's colour; tints go translucent. The shader blends the spots in sRGB.

Ignore white pixels

Color Thief skips near-white pixels, so white is never picked.
